Being healthy is better than being thin

I bought a couple of new cookbooks, and I went on a huge shopping trip for nothing but healthy food. I've got the next 4 days of meals planned out, my mother is going to be trying these new foods with me, ( she just found out she has fatty liver syndrome), I doubt my brothers will try them. Oh well, their health, not mine. I just need to remember to plan my meals before I go grocery shopping, then I probably save money.
My boss pointed out tome today that there are only 6 more paychecks till christmas. 6! I need to start hitting the stores and buying stuff. If I space it over a couple of months, it'll be easier.

I'm in Phoenix, AZ right now and I'm feeling a whole lot better than I have lately. I've been sleeping well, doing yoga, goin swimming and watching my portions better. When I ea dinner w/ my grandparents I'm suddenly very watchful of my portions, partially because I'm eating at a dinner table here and because I don't want them to feel dissapointed in me. They always worry about my weight and health so I take care too really watch how much and what I eat when I'm here. I need to have tat mind set all the time, I've noticed how much I crave junk food when I;m bored and how much I want (WAAAY too much). I know it's easier here because I'm not stressed about all the things that I would ussually be so I'm noticing this about myself. When I'm depressed and stressed about life I tell myself it's okay because I'm so upset and need something too make me feel better. That's not the way too do it, I'm learning crocheting and knitting and I have a huge reading list I want too be done with by the end of the year, so hopefully I won't be bored anymore.

While moving, I found a whole bunch of healthy cook books my cousin gave years ago, which is great because I love to cook and by reading them I'm really starting to grasp what is actually healthy and good for you. Also, I think putting more work into my cooking will help to appreciate food more so I don't think of it as an outlet to self-destruction. I'm trying to do yoga everyday as well, I feel so much better when I do.

I've figured out a couple of things.
1.) After eating healthy food, the sugary junk from the vending machines at work makes me sick. I don't know, maybe my body has just gotten a accustomed to real food.
2.) Also, instead of cutting myself off completely, I save friday for my cravings. One day a week I give in too all my cravings, I write them down in my food journal over the week and when friday comes I start at the top of the list and by the third thing I usually don't want anymore sugar or fattening fried foods. I'm sating my cravings and keeping to a healthy diet.
3.) I've been really watching my servings so that I eat the proper portions

I'm starting to grasp portions better, I followed them pretty good today, until my older brother held a piece of Papa John's pizza out too me. It's my favorite pizza, but the whole day wasn't a loss. I'm not gonna go and binge just because of one little mistake. I ate whole grains, fresh fruit and fresh and steamed veggies and half of a salmon steak.

I'm very tired form lack of sleep and a 13 hour shift at work, it's almost 1am and I need to be at work at 7am. I think I'd be a lot better off with this whole healthy thing I slept properly. I think I'll try it.

I've decided to actually get this community going, so to all the (2) members, LET'S DO THIS THING!
Like many people, I think I turn to too food for emotional support. It's something that is always there, it never rejects you. But that's not healthy and neither are my eating habits. While I'm seeing a therapist for my mental issues, I've decided to try and find a nutritionist for my physical ones. I don't want to go on a fad diet or cut out carbs (which is really bad for your heart), or spend my time working out non-stop just to fit into the "perfect" size. (My bone structure would keep me out of anything below a size 8, and that's pushing it) Over the years I've decided that being healthy is more important than being thin, and while, for some insane reason, people think they go hand-in-hand, I don't. And that's the whole point of this community. So here are my stats:

I started actually working out at about this time last year and started at 185lbs. The first 25lbs wasn't hard at all to lose. But I didn't change my eating habits, therefore I have lost weight in monthS! I am getting so frustated with it. I know I have to change what i eat but I do not want to! So I am in the being stages of comtemplating changing. I need to make the commitment. Exercise is not hard, its the eating part that is hard for me.
